Currently Orbiting

A look at what’s been in rotation around Moontown.

Our Currently Orbiting series is a simple way of highlighting the songs and artists that have been catching our attention lately. It’s less about announcements and more about what’s been sitting with us — the kind of music that sticks.

This time around, we’re featuring a track that’s been part of the Moontown story from early on. It’s one that still holds its place, and still feels just as relevant as when we first heard it.

Take a listen and stay tuned for more from around the Moontown orbit.

Welcome Aboard: Nelly Carrazco Joins Moontown Sounds

Moontown Sounds is excited to welcome Nelly Carrazco aboard as our newest intern. Nelly comes to us with a strong instinct for organization, content creation, and creative marketing—plus a genuine love of music and storytelling that fits right into our orbit. When she’s not mission-focused on Moontown projects, she’s experimenting in the kitchen, mapping out TikTok ideas, or logging a workout or two. She’s eager to learn the inner workings of the independent music world and help support the artists doing meaningful work here. You’ll be seeing her contributions soon—and we’re thrilled to have her helping us expand the Moontown universe.

"The Book" Out now from Charlie and The Regrets and Hudson Mueller on Moontown Sounds

We’re excited to share “The Book,” a new single from Hudson Mueller and Charlie of Charlie and The Regrets. Recorded at Beebe Gunn Studio, the track brings together two distinctive songwriting voices in a stripped-down, acoustic-driven session that highlights the warmth and character of the performances.

Produced by Paul Beebe, the song features a talented group of Houston musicians: Isaias Gill on drums, Josh Artell (The Broken Spokes) on piano, and Beebe himself on upright bass. Hudson and Charlie handled guitars and vocals, creating a back-and-forth dynamic that feels both intimate and lived-in — the kind of recording that invites you to sit with it for a while.

“The Book” is out now on Moon Town Sounds. Give it a listen, and if it speaks to you, we hope you’ll share it. More music is on the way.

From SXSW.com:Director Jude Hope Harris recreates the time her brother and girlfriend first met in this autobiographical dramedy where her family plays versions of themselves. Sophie arrives home from 10 hours of facial feminization surgery in a haze of pain and anesthesia. Waiting for her are Morgan, her queer actor girlfriend, and Randy, her country singer brother – both just starting to get to know each other. As Sophie recovers, Morgan and Randy unite against a tragically unhelpful home nurse Donna, their common enemy on a difficult night made bearable with humor, love, music, and weed.
